The Westland Foundation is a federally-registered, grassroots and volunteer-based charitable organization created in 1993 with a mission to increase inner-Winnipeg youth's access to post-secondary education.

[Inner-Winnipeg is within the boundaries of Inkster Boulevard in the north, Red River in the east, Assiniboine in the south and Route 90 in the west. Westland serves 23 schools within these boundaries (https://westlandfoundation.ca/the-wfef-scholarship/criteria/boundaries-and-schools/).]

To achieve its mission, Westland established the Westland Foundation Education Fund (WFEF) in 2009. The Fund is a scholarship accessible to all inner-Winnipeg students. To access the scholarship, students have to earn at least 80%, and in some instances, at least 70% marks from Grades 7 to 12 in any participating schools. The students will then earn a tuition credit towards their post-secondary education at either Red River College, University of Manitoba, or the University of Winnipeg.

To date, Westland has raised over $2 million for the WFEF. Since 2009, it has awarded over 1,000 scholarships totalling over $553,500. For the 2019-2020 academic year, the Foundation anticipates awarding over 240 scholarships totalling over $92,000.

In partnership with Carbone Restaurant Brands, the Foundation established the Westland-Carbone Culinary Arts Scholarship in 2019. This partnership aims at increasing enrolment in the Culinary Arts.

Carbone awards a $1,000 scholarship to three Westland Scholars in the Red River College Culinary Arts program each year. Carbone also donates to the WFEF. The contribution aims to grow the scholarships awarded to qualified candidates throughout the inner-Winnipeg catchment attending any post-secondary program at the three post-secondary schools.

The Westland Foundation Scholars' organization or the Westland Alumni are recipients of the WFEF scholarship. The organization's ultimate goal is to assist Westland in achieving its mission, which is to provide a full post-secondary scholarship for every inner-Winnipeg student.

In August 2018, Westland Foundation formed the Westland Scholars' Committee. The Committee's task is to help organize Westland Scholars' activities and activate the Westland Foundation Scholars' organization. The Committee is dedicated to supporting various Foundation's activities. These include supporting and organizing various Westland events, assisting in fundraising and engaging with past, present, and future Westland Scholars.

The Committee held its first Scholars' reception on February 13, 2019, in celebration of Westland's 25 years of supporting inner-Winnipeg students.

The Westland Foundation is calling all WFEF recipients to participate in its continued growth and development.
